After the end of Prohibition, Utica Club became the name of the brewery's flagship beer, promoted during the 1950s and 1960s by two beer steins, Schultz and Dooley, voiced by Jonathan Winters. Schultz and Dooley were created in 1959 for the West End Brewery Company (WEBCO) of Utica, New York. They were used on television ads to advertise Utica Club Beer and they talked to each other. Two other steins created for this series of TV ads were "The Countess and Officer Suds." These two steins were never produced for sale to the public.

The original Schultz and Dooley (Figure 1) are easy to recognize by the markings "59-CSM" in blue lettering on Schultz and "59-CDM", initially in green and then in teal lettering on Dooley, printed below the handles. In August of 1959 an order was placed for 1,000 sets of the pair from German manufacturer KING-Werk, marked as shown in Figure 2a.
